Time and Self Management

The endless treadmill

The good news upfront: Time doesn’t run away from us. It flows steadily at the same pace, minute by minute, year after year. In this sense, we simply cannot “manage” time in the literal sense. The commonly used term “time management” is therefore somewhat misleading. More accurately, the question is how we can make the best possible use of our personal work and life time. This, in turn, is closely related to our priorities, performance capacity, and energy distribution—all of which we can influence, both positively and negatively.
Escaping the “endless treadmill” is possible by learning to consciously manage our use of available time and energy across different life situations and aligning it with both organizational and personal purpose.

What is self-management?

By self-management, we mean the ability to coordinate our actions, thoughts and feelings in such a way that we can move through everyday (working) life in a purposeful and satisfying way. Successful self-management is not only productive but can also be extremely enjoyable if it is consistently geared towards personal goals and abilities. Self-management training supports people in pursuing their goals and tasks sustainably and successfully along the personal wheel of life. It is less about disciplining yourself – according to the motto “Pull yourself together!” – but rather about recognizing what motivates me to make changes and learning methods to act more efficiently.

Does this approach also work under high workload conditions?

The word “stress” often carries a negative connotation, and merely thinking about it can trigger measurable stress symptoms – the sympathetic nervous system (arousal/tension nerve, part of the autonomic nervous system) is immediately activated. As a result, we often operate in an unhelpful automatic mode that prevents us from accessing consciously learned, professional behaviors. Therefore, alongside imparting general knowledge, techniques, and tools, it is crucial to work specifically on inner attitude and the transfer of skills into daily life. Self-reflection plays a key role here. This way, it becomes possible to stay in control even under heavy workload conditions.

Strengthen personal competence

Our offerings are tailored specifically to address the topics that bring you the greatest benefit. Through our process-oriented perspective and systemic approach, we don’t just focus situationally on individual questions in our workshops, but also take into account the contextual conditions of the specific overall system.
