Time and Self Management

The endless treadmill

The good news upfront: Time doesn’t run away from us. It flows steadily at the same pace, minute by minute, year after year. In this sense, we simply cannot “manage” time in the literal sense. The commonly used term “time management” is therefore somewhat misleading. More accurately, the question is how we can make the best possible use of our personal work and life time. This, in turn, is closely related to our priorities, performance capacity, and energy distribution—all of which we can influence, both positively and negatively.
Escaping the “endless treadmill” is possible by learning to consciously manage our use of available time and energy across different life situations and aligning it with both organizational and personal purpose.
