Leadership is not always visible and often difficult to grasp at first glance. That is why we approach it with two comparisons:
Leadership is, on one hand, like housekeeping—it becomes especially noticeable when order is lacking.
And on the other hand, leadership is like craftsmanship – it creates something new, shapes change and unlocks potential. In any case, leadership requires two essential qualities: The ability to structure and to shape. In short, the task of leadership is to ensure the future viability of the organization. This is what we train for.
“In no other profession is training as poor as in leadership and management. No one would get on an airplane if pilots had training comparable to that of executives and managers.”
(Fredmund Malik, 2013)
